Athletic Training Athletic Training Team: Staff
Melissa is in her fourth year as Head Athletic Trainer at Averett University. She was the assistant athletic trainer for two years prior to being promoted. Before coming to Averett University, she worked at Clemson Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation as an outreach athletic trainer. Melissa received her Master in Education degree from Clemson University in 2001 and her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from California University of Pennsylvania in 1999. Melissa and her husband, Jerry, reside in Danville, VA with their daughter Madison. Paul Hylton, MEd, ATC, CSCS Paul is in his third year as the Assistant Athletic
Trainer at Averett. Paul received his Master in Education degree
from the University
of Virginia in 2005 and his bachelor’s degree in athletic training
from Averett University in 2003. In the summer of 2002 and 2003 he
worked as an intern at Michigan State University. In 2003 Paul had
the unique opportunity to work with the New England Patriots during
pre-season training camp. He is also certified strength and conditioning
specialist. Paul enjoys exercising and resides in Danville, VA. |
