As you begin your transition from horse enthusiast to equine professional, it becomes necessary to begin assembling your own personal equipment. This equipment will assist you while a student at AU, but will also be the tools of the trade you will need when working in the industry. The program does have equipment for students to use, however, as you progress, the expectation is for you to be building your collection of equipment. The required equipment is broken down in several sections; required and recommended; as well as by the time frame for purchase. This is in an attempt to make the acquisition of this equipment possible over time. If you already own some or all of this equipment-Congratulations-you are ahead of the game! Required Freshman Year:

Required Sophomore Year 1. Lungeline without chain **All students must have a cross-country vest before taking 200 (or above) level eventing classes or participating on the CT team.
The Equestrian Studies Department suggests the following for the protection of equipment: 1. Make a list of all tack and equipment that you will have in the stable and keep your record in your room. 2. Mark clearly all belongings with your name. 3. Bring a combination lock for your footlocker.
