Scholarships usually require full-time enrollment. If you
receive a private scholarship that does not require full-time enrollment,
the Office of Financial Aid must receive written authorization from the
donor before disbursement will occur.
Trustee Scholarship
Entering full-time freshmen may qualify for this competitive full tuition scholarship
based on high school GPA, curriculum, SAT or ACT scores, and extracurricular
activities. Minimum criteria: 3.50 GPA, 1250 SAT Critical and Math score
or 28 Composite ACT.
To apply, complete an admissions application for Averett
. All Trustee applicants must be accepted to the university prior to February
15, 2008. The Scholarship Committee will review all files and notify finalists
by March 1, 2008. Finalists and their families will be invited to campus
for a required interview with selected faculty members.
Averett Scholarships and Awards
Entering full-time students who demonstrate academic achievement are considered
for these awards. The amounts vary from $2,500 to $11,000 according to the
student's cumulative GPA and SAT or ACT scores. To apply, complete an Averett
Admissions Application before the April 1 priority deadline.
Graduate of Merit Scholarship
Pittsylvania County Graduates of Merit may qualify for a $500 annual scholarship.

Private Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded based on criteria such as academic achievement, citizenship, or special skills and talents. Students will be automatically considered for all privately endowed Averett
Scholarships. No additional application is required. Preview

Grants
Unlike loans, grants do not have to be repaid. The federal government determines
your financial need when you fill out the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA). Grants usually come from federal and state governments and are
sent directly to Averett.
Pell Grant
Undergraduate students with proven financial need may be eligible. The amount
of this award is up to $4,310. Complete the FAFSA.
Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
Full-time, first or second year undergraduate students may qualify. The student
must be a U.S. citizen and a Federal Pell Grant recipient who has completed
a rigorous high school program (rigorous defined by each state). First year
award: $750, Second Year: $1,300 (w/ a 3.0 GPA)
National SMART Grant
Full-time third and fourth year undergraduate students may qualify. The student
must be a U.S. citizen and a Federal Pell Grant recipient. The student must
be enrolled in: Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, Life Sciences,
Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Designated Critical or Foreign Languages.
Award amount: $4000 (w/ a 3.00 GPA).
Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
Full-time or half-time undergraduate students with exceptional financial need
who could not attend university otherwise are eligible. Amount: $200-$2,000.

College Scholarship Assistance Program (CSAP)
Virginia residents with proven financial need will be considered. Amount: $400 –1,000.

Averett University Assistance Grant
Full-time undergraduate students with proven financial need are eligible. Award:
Up to $5,500. Complete the FAFSA.
Averett Award
This is a renewable non need-based incentive grant for full-time first-time/transfer
students whose legal residency is outside of North Carolina and Virginia.
Complete the Averett Application for Admission.
North Carolina Award
This is a renewable incentive grant for full-time students whose legal residency
is North Carolina. Complete the Averett Application for Admission. Priority
deadline: April 1.
Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG)
Full-time domicile residents of Virginia attending a private university in
Virginia are eligible. Amount: Determined each year by Virginia's General
Assembly (2007-08: $3,200). Download
an application and return it to Averett prior to July 31.
Ministerial Tuition Discounts
Full-time students who are sons or daughters of ministers or students preparing
for church-related vocations are eligible for this renewable award. Amount:
$400 (resident students), $200 (commuters). Priority deadline: April 1
