Averett Announces New Director of Marketing and Communications

June 24, 2010

Randy KingAverett University is pleased to announce that Randy King is the new director of marketing and communications for the university. King replaces Dr. Susan Huckstep, who served as director of public relations for more than 15 years.

"We are very excited about Randy joining the Institutional Advancement team," said Page Stooks, vice president for Institutional Advancement. "With his background in the corporate and marketing world his knowledge and experience will be beneficial to Averett as we implement our new brand and marketing campaign."

King has more than 12 years experience of successfully managing the development and delivery of accurate, consistent and meaningful messages to audiences of all sizes at Fortune 500 and international organizations - including Genworth, GE and Ericsson. Most recently, he worked as a communications consultant, partnering with non-profit organizations and small businesses. Prior to that, he was with Genworth Financial in Lynchburg from 2004-09, where he contributed through several roles in communications and human resources, including operations communications leader.

King earned his bachelor's degree from Liberty University and a master of business administration with a marketing concentration from Lynchburg College. He currently serves on the board of the Lynchburg chapter of IABC- the International Association of Business Communicators.
