Student Leader Spotlight: John Parkin
John is an Aviation and Criminal Justice major from St. Catherine, Jamaica. This junior keeps himself busy with his class work as well as his many positions around campus - including serving as a resident assistant, university ambassador, and orientation leader. Why did you choose to attend Averett? I originally began looking at Averett because of the flight program. I stayed because of that and all of the other great things I have been able to do here. What is your favorite thing about Averett? The size of the University . What are your plans once you graduate? Continue logging flight hours and fly for a major airline. How do you balance your involvement with your academics? Time management and a schedule I stick to. What is the most rewarding part of being involved on campus? The respect from your peers is great, but for me, the reward of accomplishing these things is priceless. What is your favorite thing to do on campus or in the area? I love hanging out with my FANTASTIC bosses in admissions and residence life. What advice would you give to new students? Get involved on campus and cherrish every moment!
