Summer Orientation

June 19 and 20

REGISTER for summer orientation

Freshmen have two options for New Student Orientation; a summer program and a program immediately before school starts. The summer orientation is a two-day program designed to help you get ready for the fall semester. You will take care of any final business and register for classes. Summer orientation will give you a jump start over other new students. There is limited space available in the summer session, so register early. Students attending the summer session will get first dibs on fall classes and free up a large
block of time in August that would have normally been spent in New Student Orientation meetings.

Housing

Students will stay on campus in Fugate Hall for orientation. Fugate Hall is one of our air-conditioned residence halls and features single sex suit style accomodations.  Linens are provided There are several local hotels in town for parents attending the program.  Linens are provided, but you should plan to bring towls and a blanket - the rooms can get cold.

Meals

Lunch and dinner on Friday (19th) and breakfast on Saturday (20th) are provided for students and guests.

Time

Check-in begins at 9:00am.  Do not plan to come right before the 11:00am opening session.  Check-in is not only a time to check-in for orientation, but also a time to take your photo for your student ID and take care of any business with University offices that you may still need to address.  Plan to arrive between 9:00 - 10:00 to leave plenty of time to get everything finished.

Parent & Family Programs

Parents and family members are encouraged to attend orientation with students.  There are separate sessions for parents during most of the day. While we do not offer specific programs for younger siblings, they are welcome to attend with parents as well.

What to Bring

comfortable clothes a blanket towels an alarm clock

Once you have registered for one of the sessions, a detailed schedule and more information will be e-mailed to you. If you are unable to attend the summer session, you can always catch up with our fall orientation program.

Please remember—attending summer orientation means that you must complete all of the preparation before June 12. Housing application, contracts, fi nancial aid paperwork, health history, immunization records, health insurance and academic assessments must all be taken care of before you are eligible to attend the summer orientation program.
